Sephardi Panoply event

On March 9, YUConnects in partnership with Congregation Shaarei Orah of Teaneck hosted a fantastic multimedia trivia game, "A Sephardi Panoply." Over 75 participants had the chance to meet and mingle in an upscale setting with good food and an interesting program. With many dates flowing from this event and follow-up continuing, YUConnects is grateful for partnerships with caring communities that want to increase match opportunities.

Meet the Matchmaker Night at Shaaray Tefila with SawYouAtSinai

February 11th - The large beautiful basement in Cong. Shaaray Tefila in Lawrence was filled to capacity when over 90 single men and women met with nearly 40 matchmakers (from SawYouAtSinai, YUConnects and local shuls) for comfortable and personal short meetings. By "speed dating with matchmakers" the participants had an opportunity to make connections and convey a bit of their essence which will hopefully yield many targeted suggestions. On average, each attendee met with 6 or 7 matchmakers who eagerly took their information. After the long and busy night, all agreed that the hours were well spent and productive.

Bikur Cholim Lecture at The Seforim Sale

As part of the Seforim Sale events, YUConnects and the Student Medical Ethics Society co-sponsored a fascinating lecture which was open to the entire community and the attendees packed into a large Belfer Hall lecture room on February 14th. "The Dangers of Bikur Cholim- How to do the Mitzvah Right" was given by Rabbi Aaron Glatt, M.D. who conveyed the importance of this mitzvah through humorous anecdotes and halachic insights. The singles that participated had the added benefit of mingling afterwards over refreshments and introducing themselves to the friendly YUConnects Connectors who volunteered their time at the event.

Academic Research and Studies Continue…

With the resources and connections of Yeshiva University at hand, YUConnects staff has been at the forefront of cutting edge research that will enhance future relationship education and matchmaking skills. Together with our S.Daniel Abraham program, we have been collecting data from the Year in Israel Schools on classes they teach relating to dating and marriage. The information will be useful in building future enhanced curriculum. Additionally, an ongoing Matchmaker Success Survey following each engagement will give feedback and helpful direction to the greater Connector community.
