Is This Normal Event at Stern College

One girlfriend verbally bullies another. A college student grapples with credit card bills and a high maintenance girlfriend. A mother discusses personal marital conflicts with her single daughter. These scenarios were some of those analyzed in fascinating conversations that took place in Koch Auditorium on Tuesday, November 13th.“Is This Normal?: Tips on the Relationships in our Lives” was a unique program in which Stern students had the opportunity to view short video clips featuring actresses from Stern’s Dramatic Society highlighting a variety of common relationship issues. Animated discussions followed, led by expert facilitators from Project S.A.R.A.H.,in which the women were eager to present their opinions on what they saw. YUConnects, which is at the forefront of academic research and educational programming focusing on healthy relationships, organized the event in collaboration with YU’s Counseling Center, Office of Student Life, TAC, Student Council, Syms Student Council, Psychology Club and Dramatics Society.

Shiur and Sushi Monthly Series

There are voices in the Heights…and they usually center around fascinating discussions on the shiurim of YUConnects’ monthly “Shiur and Sushi” series. Men and women gather in the comfortable living room of Rabbi Akiva and Chaya Sima Koenigsberg on Bennett Avenue to hear a lecture by a noted Rosh Yeshiva or Rebbe. Following the interactive shiur, sushi and sweets are served thereby facilitating further natural meeting opportunities. Education, Seminars, & Workshops continue

Our office is happy to partner with the noted "Relationship Couple"- Rabbi Shmuel and Dr. Chani Maybruch, both experienced educators, who host fascinating workshops for our members called "From 'One and Done' to 'Found the One'"...Ways to Navigate the Dating Maze. This three-part series, geared separately for men and women, will take place this Winter and registration information can be obtained by emailing yuconnects@yu.edu

Our staff is always “on the go!” Recent YUConnects lectures offered insights into the dating realm through gatherings at Ohr Naava in Monsey, at a Torah-in-Motion conference in Connecticut and via a worldwide Webinar on relationships offered by the CJF’s Rabbinic Certificate Program.

Similar to the successful September Five Towns event in the home of Tobi and Avromie Fein, YUConnects is offering a Special Connector Support Evening on January 7th. Sharon and Sinclair Haberman are graciously hosting the night in their Upper West Side apartment for intense computer training for our new group of matchmakers who benefit from the online skills and professional pointers offered by Rachel Skydell, an experienced Connector. Simultaneously, we will feature a terrific brainstorming session for veteran matchmakers who can make targeted suggestions from their members and serve as friendly mentors to the new recruits.
